Project Description:
This project is located on State HWY 24, from approximate mile marker 169.0 to mile marker 174.1 in Lake County, just north of the Town of Leadville, CO. The project consists of shoulder and curve widening, minor reconstruct and resurfacing including HMA, HBP reclamation, aggregate base course, removal and installation of guardrail, unclassified excavation, seeding, signing, striping, construction traffic management, removal of an existing structural plate pipe, and the construction of a new Con-Span Bridge System. CDOT, Region 3 has partnered with Tezak Heavy Equipment and accepted a Valued Engineering Proposal, which will replace the proposed construction of a concrete box culvert with a new innovative Con-Span Bridge Design System. This new pre-cast bridge system that will be provided by Contech Bridge Solutions, Inc. will not only minimize the construction time, but it will also minimize the environmental impact by not having to divert the East Fork Arkansas River for the construction of this new bridge system.
CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS: The Pre-Cast Bridge Structure has been installed and backfilled. Our crews will be installing storm pipe and working on the highway realignment for the Month of May.
